Talking Entrecard

It seems everybody is talking about Entrecard. I signed up as it's free advertising. It reminds me of a turbo-charged traffic exchange except better.

"Entrecard is the first and only free exchange network for 125x125 ads. Through this revolutionary platform, you can advertise your own 125x125 Entrecard on any blog in the network, for free, for a number of days.

You pay for this advertising with Entrecard Credits, that you earn for free by networking (a.k.a. visiting blogs and dropping your card for other bloggers).

This guide will explain quickly and easily the different features and functions of the Entrecard website and network."

I found this information about "8 steps to becoming an Entrecard powerhouse" and thought I'd share it. I'm doing these steps and things are looking up.

The only thing I don't like is that I'd prefer to have all my blogs under one account. It's too aggravating to use separate email addresses and switch back and forth.

Finally, some people don't post the Entrecard widget near the top of their site. I don't care to advertise when the widget is at the bottom of a page. How many people are willing to go search for that?

So try it and drop a card here.

Switch To All-Digital

"It’s coming sooner than you think.

As of Feb. 17, 2009, if you have an old (“analog”) TV and use an antenna (so that’s, what, five people?), you won’t be able to watch TV anymore unless you get a converter box. Seriously.

All “full-power” TV stations in the U.S. will switch to all-digital broadcasting. So the feds are actually offering $50 coupons to anyone who needs to get a box. This doesn’t apply to anyone who has cable/satellite/pay service or a TV with a digital tuner."

"THE NAME NIELSEN MAY BE most closely associated with the medium of television, but it is the Internet--especially social forms of online media--that is having the greatest influence on the way the research and publishing giant delivers its own messages to the public. In its latest foray into online publishing, the Nielsen Co. has quietly launched the "Nielsen Blog," a new Web destination featuring the waxings and musings of its array of experts on marketing and media research topics. The first installment of the blog, located at blog.nielsen.com, delves into what arguably is the industry's biggest annual marketing and media event--the Super Bowl--and future iterations will focus primarily on other big cyclical events and topical issues. The next big focus is likely to be the Academy Awards, another event that draws on the vast arsenal of Nielsen advertising, media, marketing and entertainment data streams."

Monster Fan of The Week

This week's Fan of The Week is a hard worker who is an asset to Jericho fandom. She comments on articles, diggs, and posts about Jericho.

What has really captured my attention is her focus on HeyNielsen. Not only has she established her presence there;she continues to encourage others to visit and promote Jericho. When we forget she's always there to remind us how important HeyNielsen is for Jericho.

The Monster Fan of The Week is Artzylady.

Congratulations and thanks for all you do to promote Jericho.

Jericho: Who's Watching The Fort ?

Yes, New Year is past but Terocious did such an outstanding blog post that I want to share it.

"Happy New Year Jericho Fans

I have to admit that I was already a little tipsy when I got to Jeritopia at about quarter till twelve on New Years Eve. My intent was to remain fairly quiet and enjoy the company but I got a phone call from an old friend so I had to settle for glancing occasionally at the screen and watching the names and comments of my Jericho cohorts scrolling along. For months now we have watched each other come and go. We drop hints about “real life” as we attend to our daily business of living but we have all been elsewhere and wondered: “What is going on right now? Who is watching the fort? What will I find when I get back?” Sound serious? I think you could say that many of us would never have believed just how serious our fandom could become."

" A few weeks ago, HD Net ran an 8 episode “Jericho” marathon and this time I did set my DVR to record it. After watching the pilot episode, my wife and I were hooked. We wound up running through all 8 episodes fairly quickly and then waited for HD Net to run some more. When we didn’t see any on the horizon, we went out and bought the Season 1 DVD the other night and have now made it through another 6 episodes.

After being cancelled at the end of Season 1, a massive fan effort revived the show and a shortened second season will begin on February 12. This time, my DVR is ready. Yours should be, too. “Jericho” is one of the smartest written, best acted shows on TV. Plus with the writers strike continuing, new episodes of quality shows will be few and far between."

Margie Without Edna

Hi everybody! Margie here. It's New Year's Day and I'm here alone. My sister, Edna, has deserted me. Yes, she doesn't care about me. She didn't even tell me where she was going!

It's a good thing I have all of you. Well, Mr. Hawkins did stop by with some good news. He says we may have our power back soon. That sweet wife of his sent me some cookies too.

Thinking back on 2007 has made me think of the new year ahead so I wanted to send out some wishes for 2008. Keep in mind that I never make resolutions. I don't resolve to do anything;I just do it.

Here are my wishes:

1. Edna, stay wherever you are and don't come back.

2. Stanley and Mimi: I wish you a big wedding. Invite me.

3. I wish that all of you will have the opportunity to visit Jericho in 2008. Come see my nice basement. Ladies, come for tea.

4. I wish much continued success for my friend, Amy Vernon. She's too nice to tell the truth about Edna so she writes about TV shows instead.

5. Mr. Rich Becker: I hope you get to visit my home in 2008. You seem to be a very nice man.

6. To Ms. Briarpatch: I wish you luck finding that towel you wanted.

7. For all Jericho fans all over the world: I wish you all the Nuts you can hold.

8. I would also like to wish a very happy, successful year to the person who made all this possible: Nina Tassler.

9. Cousin T.: I hope you strike it rich so you can retire. By the way, can you come look at my porch? It sags.

10. Happy New Year to all of you and your families and friends and pets. I had a dog once but she looked at Edna and ran off.

Happy New Year!!!

Jericho: Ringing In The New

To celebrate this New Year's Eve I asked two of my favorite people to give me a helping hand. First, Amy Vernon of Remote Access chose her two favorite Jericho posts of 2007.

Next, Rich Becker of Copywrite Ink presents his two most popular Jericho posts of 2007.

Another favorite of mine is Midori Miller and her New Year's post is both interesting and funny so I'm also presenting it here. Enjoy!!

Here's Amy:

"Jake and Hawkins, a love story"

"Wednesday’s Jericho was one of those rare hours of television these days, it seems. So very many questions were answered and pretty much no new ones raised.

Sure, we wonder who Valente really is. But we still know more about the man at the top of the nuke plot than we did last week, when Hawkins had circled a bald guy in the photo. We know he — ostensibly — worked for Homeland Security/CIA. That makes everything ever so much more sinister.

OK, but let’s start at the beginning."

"And now for something completely different.

A little while back, I asked previous Jericho guest bloggers Jane and Beth to make a return engagement to blog on Casus Belli (which, by the by, is Latin for “Cause for War”). They accepted and then behind my back conspired to do something totally creative and different and fun for this week’s guest blog."

Here's Rich:

"A nuclear mushroom cloud appears on the horizon -- and for the residents of Jericho, a small Kansas town, it could mean they're the only Americans left alive.

I bounced this off a few friends and family members this weekend and none of them were interested. Who wants to see people die of radiation poisoning or be evaporated under the heat of a nuclear blast? We saw enough of that, years ago, with the movie The Day After, they said.

The descriptor is also responsible for most critics rounding up the serial as a "nuclear apocalypse drama," which conjures up those same images of radiation sickness and despair. BUT that's not the show that captured millions of fans despite a midseason break. These fans, the ones responsible for the biggest show cancellation protest in history, saw something else."

"One of the greatest successes made in the past few weeks by Jericho fans is that Nina Tassler seems to have been turned into a “Jericho buzz believer.” Rob Owen, with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette even captured part of the puzzle of what turned Tassler around from saying as go the ratings so goes the show.

It seems beyond 20 tons of nuts; dozens of forums; thousands of mainstream and social media stories; and tens of thousands of calls, letters, and e-mails; her entire life was immersed in nothing but nuts and Jericho."

" Midori's Predictions For 2008"
