Supernatural: Sera Gamble
"US paranormal drama series Supernatural has become a cult hit since it first hit TV screens in 2005.
Sera Gamble is the supervising producer and writer on the show.
She discussed what it is like working to a TV budget, the impact of the writers' strike - and why writing horror is so much fun.
Warning: This story contains plot spoilers."
"The drama around the possible defection from Paramount of the cinematic powerhouses behind DreamWorks is headline-grabbing - but it's only a distraction from what must really be driving Sumner Redstone crazy: In tough times for media giants, Viacom and CBS are doing even worse than their peers.
And yet, even if you conceded that Redstone was right strategically, you'd have cause to wonder if he got the timing or execution wrong. (As Redstone knows better than most, the market can't only be right when you are winning.) You'd also wonder how much of a cloud episodes like the intense scrutiny of Dreamworks' future cast over Redstone's empire, perhaps overshadowing other bright spots such as the improved year Paramount is having overall."

Supernatural: Kripe and Padalecki
"Supernatural executive producer Eric Kripke has scored an overall deal at Warner Bros. TV.
According to Variety, in the two-year exclusive pact, Kripke will continue to exec produce and showrun CW's Thursday staple Supernatural, which enters its fourth season this fall.
Kripke also will start to develop new projects under the deal. There's no word if one of the new titles might be a Supernatural spinoff; Kripke has said in the past that he's interested in doing a prequel of sorts that takes place in the Old West and centered on the show's mythology."
"SUPERNATURAL star Jared Padalecki is feeling a little snug in the pants. His bags were misplaced en route to Australia and he arrived without even his undies.
As a result his first stop when he arrived in Sydney was to pick up some new underpants, but for a guy who spends most of his time battling the paranormal on the Network Ten hit show Supernatural as Sam Winchester, buying grundies proved quite a challenge.
"I had to go buy clean underwear with the crazy Australian sizes that I didn't understand," he said in Sydney today."
"Episode five already? Wow, time is flying toward September, er October, er we really don’t know. Just to keep everyone in the loop about the latest controversy, we don’t know exactly what date Supernatural will be back in the fall. Initial reports had it the same week as when all the other CW shows premiere, the first week of September. Then, TV Guide reported last week the date for Smallville and Supernatural was actually TBA. Now Spoilerfix and The Futon Critic have it listed tentatively as October 2nd."

TV Tidbits
"The CW Network has just provided us with two brand new TV spots for the upcoming season finales of Smallville and Supernatural. Both episodes will air on Thursday, May 15, with Smallville airing at 8 PM ET and Supernatural following at 9 PM ET."
Heather Salerno of Remote Access Lost Recap:
"Born premature to a teen-age mother. Dumped into an unloving foster family. Picked on in high school.
Conned into giving up a kidney to his (supposed) birth father, who tried to kill him by tossing him out an eight-story window. Stuck in a wheelchair.
Survived a plane crash. Gut shot and left for dead in a grave full of rotting corpses.
And now he’s ghost whispering in a creepy jungle cabin."
"Some simply perfect news this week: Esai Morales has been cast in the Caprica pilot/telemovie as Joseph Adama, father of William Adama (now played by Edward James Olmos).
Morales most recently played, of course, our heroic Maj. Beck on Jericho. Given the different schedule of cable and network shows, one would hope that when (not if, when) Jericho gets a Season 3, he’d be able to work out both?"

The Monster Presents Supernatural
Once in a while a great TV show comes along and that show was Jericho. After the first cancellation I knew that I would never let myself get that attached to a show ever again. So, I'm trying something new.
There was a time when I wouldn't try a new show unless I saw the first episode. I see now that I'm less apt to get attached if I just start watching a show even if it's in its' 3rd or 4th season.
Then, along comes Supernatural. Sure, I have a friend who tried to get me to watch a while back but I wasn't that interested. I changed my mind after watching last week's episodes. I hate it when people are right about a show that I haven't taken time to watch. Thank goodness for DVD's.
What's so good about it? First, it's very good writing. Second, third, fourth, and fifth-there's Jensen Ackles. Where has he been all my life?
Don't miss this show. Really. Check out the Supernatural info here and find Jensen Ackles info here.
You'll be seeing a lot more about Supernatural and Jensen Ackles here soon.

Nutting Nielsen
Let me begin by thanking everyone for all the supportive emails.
Secondly, I seem to have confused some people by what my comment about leaving the fandom meant. Originally, I meant I would discontinue blogging about Jericho and that is partially true.
The main thing I meant is that I will no longer be affiliated with any particular group or message board or forum. I am going it alone. I will continue to post about Nuts To Nielsen but that is the only Jericho campaign I will blog. JM will continue to follow Nielsen ratings and will now be doing extensive coverage of Supernatural on CW.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Thanks NorsU.
"This is the Florida Vendor - hold off to Monday after 10:00 AM - They are setting up website to reflect better shipping terms - We then have a week to fill nut orders."
For West Coast Nuts- go here.
"The "Jericho" fandom may be an irritant to CBS Par execs, but at a time when even TV's top shows are taking double-digit ratings hits, it's heartening to see that TV, even canceled TV, can still stir up such passion in viewers who adopt shows as their own."

Networks:and Programming
"Networks will announce their fall schedules next month, but some shows can be considered dead already.
"Cane," the magnificently produced South Florida soap opera on CBS about a clan of sugar barons, will get the machete. Steamy and cinematically beautiful as it was, it just didn't get the ratings it needed to survive."
"CBS CEO Leslie Moonves told investors and analysts at a media conference last month that the network would be doing "a CBS Corporation upfront" where it presents its new season to advertisers at New York's Carnegie Hall, May 14: "We're going to sell outdoor. We're going to sell radio in all its forms. We're going to sell television stations. We're going to sell syndication. We're going to sell network. It's going to be a very different look than we've ever had before."
"CBS fared better on an ad revenue per person basis for its NCAA basketball tournament delivery online than on TV. So why is Gossip Girl being dragged offline for viewing only on the CW Network, partly owned by CBS?
Gossip Girl's demographic focus goes straight to the 18-34 audience, the only one that exists as far as the networks are concerned. It's an online savvy audience as well. We wonder if CW has failed to make money with it online, or simply not made the enormous pots of money studio heads feel entitled to in their minds."

Veronica Mars: Power of Fans II
**I have been blogging Jericho for 7 days a week since May.
It's time to take a break and I've chosen Sundays as my day off.
Thank you all for understanding. Be back Monday.
"Whether or not you watched Veronica Mars while it was on television, you should know that this was one series that was full of surprises and mystery.
One of the many surprises lies in the fact that this was actually a very smart and engaging series."
Veronica Mars' fans would certainly agree. Here's the final installment of my interview with four of them.
6. What do Veronica Mars fans want now? A movie?
"Every Veronica Mars fan still desperately wants a 4th season", says Sarah V. "Most however, have accepted that won't happen; and so we are hoping for a movie. A movie would be the next best thing! Although I think generally vm fans feel, that it will either happen, or it won't; but that their getting involved won't help -- which isn't true! Fans also want syndication, and some think Comic books are cool. We basically just want Veronica Mars to continue on in ANY way! But I think for the most part VM Fans just want to be heard. We're not satisfied with how the show was dealt with, we think it was too good to have ended; and we want the world to know just how much we love and miss it!"
Tami says, "We want to be treated with respect, not the way the CW treated us. We want a movie, preferably a trilogy of movies, we want syndication and we are also aiming for complete re-instatement."
"Absolutely! The movie is our goal, but also a fourth season, even if it it unlikely", says Sara P.
Rachel says,"I would love the show back or a direct to dvd season. But I don't see that as possible since cast and crew all have new jobs. So the next best thing would be a movie."
7. What happened with the Mars Bars campaign?
"We didn't think that they were really going to cancel VM, so we got started late. we were not able to stick with only "mars bars" since they are no long made in the states and are not readily available. we bought most of the available ones in the states",says Rachel
Sara P. says,"Apparently, we were late... The bars and marshmellow shipment was huge...but late. But it was great, even Rob mentioned our shipment."
"The Mars Bars Campaign was not as successful as it should have been, we started too late due to the fact the Cw did not give us a clear answer on whether Veronica mars was cancelled. No -one was around to film the delivery unlike the Jericho "nuts" campaign which appeared on you tube. We managed to raise an awfull lot of money for Candy Bars in a week. If we could of started earlier and had longer for our campaign, The Truckload of Candy may have made a difference to the outcome, due to the physical evidence of Veronicas Overwhelming Loyal Fan Base and the realisation we do not give up without one hell of a fight, as we are still proving with our continuing efforts",says Tami.
8. What are your feelings about Nielsen ratings?
"I'm not an expert on how the Neilsen Rating work; but I can tell you I think they should definitely find a better way to calculate ratings!! From what I've heard it seems they're are a lot of problems with their ratings system, and changes should be made to make it more accurate!",says Sarah V.
Tami says,"Not a reliable source for ratings. Who gets these nielson boxes? There isn't that many around. What if the new viewers that we get on board don't have nielson boxes? They won't be counted of course. Hardly Fair, especially in this day of fancy high tech wizardry. How do you count all the people at a Veronica Mars Viewing party? If there is 10 people in that room and they don't have a box? They don't count. Nielson is outdated."
9. Do you think HeyNielsen and the new Nielsen iFamily will help TV viewers?
"I think it will only be accurate when it is part of your tv and can take readings from "everybody"!!!!",says Rachel.
10. What's next for Veronica Mars fans?
Sarah V.:
"Veronica Mars fans will always continue to support there beloved show, that's for sure! We are in this for the long haul! Considering how long it could take before a movie ever happens; we will remain dedicated and in support of the show we love, for as long as it takes! You can't forget a show as unforgettable as Veronica Mars, so we could never give up; and we could never forget!"
Tami:
"We will continue to grow our campaign, getting more fans to sign on to the forums and participate in the campaigns we run. We will strive for a movie, syndication and re-instatement. we will also support the cast in any other ventures they embark on. We will continue to have fun and make friends and strive for Victory. Veronica Mars fans never give up , after all Veronica wouldn't."
Sara P.:
"We'll support the cast and crew letting them know we'll do everything to have more Mars but also supporting them in their new projects."
Rachel:
"Hopefully enjoying VM in movie form. We just keep plugging away at our campaigns."
