Monster Changes

JerichoMonster will now be a blog which documents the wildfire spread of new media.

It will cover a variety of shows, fan blogs, networking, forums, media companies, and viral marketing. JerichoMonster at heart started out as a blog about one television show, but it has evolved over time and will now focus on such vital issues as the nature of fandoms, fan campaigns, the phenomenon of canceled (and resurrected) TV shows, and so much more.

Jericho news and information will continue to be dispensed here although not on a daily basis.

The JerichoMonster is a perfect metaphor because Jericho helped both to create and then let this monster loose. I am not just doing a TV blog, I am doing a future of TV blog. NOW.
******************************************************

Jericho was cancelled due to poor Nielsen ratings. Which show will be next? If you don't have a Nielsen box then you don't count as a viewer. It's time to force changes with the networks and Nielsen Media.

We can all work together to be more focused on disrupting the ratings. No campaign is safe and may not have any effect on the networks unless the current situation is changed.

If you're interested in helping your campaign, please go here.

Monster Fan of the Week

The Monster Fan of the Week is Rich of Copywrite Ink.

Rich is a Jericho fan who came to us early in the Save Jericho campaign. He has written about Jericho and the fans and our campaign many times and continues to do so.

He has helped us every step of the way with his professional opinions, ideas, and insights. He has posted on our boards and joined us in chat. He also sponsored the Expanded Universe Short Story Competition.

Rich knows Jericho and he knows its' fans. One of his statements always stands out in my mind:

"I am sometimes reminded how easy it is for fans to lose sight of their original reasons to pull together, but I know what they sometimes do not: they are still those same people, perhaps just a bit frustrated in attempting to find their own way."

Congratulations, Rich, and thank you for everything you do.

From the CBS Jericho board:

" Dear Jericho Rangers:

As you probably know, the writers' union has gone on strike against the studios and now your favorite TV shows, including JERICHO, are in jeopardy.

But what you may not know, is the truth behind it all.

Last summer, the Jericho Rangers ran one of the most successful grassroots campaigns in history. With that in mind, we would be so grateful if you could post the following link wherever you can:

http://.com/watch?youtubev=oJ55Ir2jCxk

This video, appropriately entitled WHY WE FIGHT, is a very accurate and fair description of why the writers are striking.

If after you've watched this video, you would like to make a difference, please let the studios and networks know that you support the writers in their fight for a fair contract in order to get your shows back on the air. The writers also ask that you do not purchase and download TV shows and/or watch the TV shows that are streamed online by their networks until this strike is resolved.

Thank you for all you have done!

Signed,
Your Jericho Family"

"This is an unofficial blog started by a group of strike captains. The contributors are both writers and non-writers. If you've got any questions or stories we should know about, email us at unite@unitedhollywood.com

Hey Nielsen TV Blogger Winners

Thank you to all who voted, Myles at Cultural Learnings, and Hey Nielsen.

Hey Nielsen Blog Contest Winners:

FIRST PLACE
Jericho Monster

Second Place
Cultural Learnings

Honorable Mention
Televisionary (televisionary.blogspot.com)

TV Squad Blog (tvsquad.com)

TV Over Easy (tvovereasy.com)

"What's great about all of these sites is that they display an amazing passion and knowledge for their subject. It's exciting to witness the power of, what we call GCM (consumer generated media) and how it's reshaping the way the web works and the way people interact with entertainment. As our maestro of CGM Pete Blackshaw says "Blogs are the epicenter of online passion, and these TV blogs are taking passion to an entirely new level. The common thread across the winners is deep, in-depth, spirited--and sometimes controversial--rants and raves about shows, including those which got cancelled."

Not only do these shows know their stuff, they also have played a huge part of spreading the word about Hey! Nielsen (and correcting the word when necessary). We have see the community grow and learn and debate together, and it has resulted in a stronger, smarter site.

There are other sites we'll be calling out in the next few weeks as well that didn't make the top five (or the original list) because we want to get their names and voices in here as well. So thanks again to all.

Coming up tomorrow... a quick interview with Jericho Monster."
